Common Dreams:
"Germany: Thousands Surround US Air Base to Protest the Use of Drones. ... Organizers said that 5 to 7 thousand people took part in the chain near the Ramstein Air Base, the principal US Air Force facility in Europe, on a rainy Saturday.

Activists, calling for the base to be closed, described their protest as the biggest ever action against the US base, insisting that public support against the drone issue was growing.

Green MP Tabea Rössner warned that US drone attacks were radicalizing people in the Middle East, while peace activist Reiner Braun said, 'The chain is not complete but it is a sign! Ramstein needs to be shut down.' "

-->Yes, The NYT carried a web version of this Reuters International story. That's so Americans don't find out how unpopular our worldwide drone war really is. Only the news that favors the empire is deemed fit to print.

The Guardian UK:
"Revealed: how Associated Press cooperated with the Nazis. The Associated Press news agency entered a formal cooperation with the Hitler regime in the 1930s, supplying American newspapers with material directly produced and selected by the Nazi propaganda ministry, archive material unearthed by a German historian has revealed. ...

Associated Press ... was the only western news agency able to stay open in Hitler’s Germany, continuing to operate until the US entered the war in 1941. It thus found itself in the presumably profitable situation of being the prime channel for news reports and pictures out of the totalitarian state.

In an article published in academic journal Studies in Contemporary History , historian Harriet Scharnberg shows that AP was only able to retain its access by entering into a mutually beneficial two-way cooperation with the Nazi regime. ...

The New York-based agency ceded control of its output by signing up to the so-called Schriftleitergesetz (editor’s law), promising not to publish any material 'calculated to weaken the strength of the Reich abroad or at home'.
This law required AP to hire reporters who also worked for the Nazi party’s propaganda division. One of the four photographers employed by the Associated Press in the 1930s, Franz Roth, was a member of the SS paramilitary unit’s propaganda division, whose photographs were personally chosen by Hitler."

-->The NYT did a short story in March about Scharnberg's claims that Nazi propaganda flooded the US media in the 1930's. But why didn't the newspaper print all the confirmation of this terrible story that has just come to light? Perhaps this proof would lead readers to question what present day deals have been made with human rights abusing states around the world. What deals, for example, with Israel?

WGXC Wave Farm :
"February marked 20 years since then-President Bill Clinton signed the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which deregulated several media industries, and has led to fewer media choices for consumers. ... A study from the Federal Communications Commission in 2006 called 'Review of the Radio Industry' found that the Telecommunications Act of 1996 led to a drastic decline in the number of radio station owners as the actual number of commercial stations in the United States increased. ...

A Future of Music study in 2002 found that, 'Since passage of the 1996 Telecommunications Act, Clear Channel (now called iHeartMedia) has grown from 40 stations to 1,240 stations — 30 times more than congressional regulation previously allowed.'

And that study also found four parent companies control two-thirds of the nation’s radio news format listeners with, Viacom and Disney’s ABC Radio, also control major television networks. Since 1996, joint operating agreements have halved the number of television news organizations in most markets. So while there may be more media choices 20 years after the Telecommunications Act passed, in many formats, those 'choices' are controlled by just a handful of companies. Common Cause has said, 'In many ways, the Telecom Act failed to serve the public and did not deliver on its promise of more competition, more diversity, lower prices, more jobs and a booming economy.... Instead, the public got more media concentration, less diversity, and higher prices.' "

-->These findings did not find their way into The NYT, itself a product of corporate media control. Our supposed newspaper of record failed to carry this story. Maybe it would have contrasted too much with its overwhelming support of Hillary.
